About Us

Our Story

In 1992, we set out to create a better egg. Egg consumption was in decline. Consumers were concerned about cholesterol, and fresh, quality eggs were hard to come by. So we asked ourselves how we could deliver the freshest, best-tasting, most-nutritious egg possible and make it accessible for everyone.

Well, as the saying goes: “you are what you eat.” We understood that to create a better egg, it would have to be better from the start. Through rigorous research and careful sourcing, we formulated our own unique patented feed to give all of our hens a wholesome, all-vegetarian diet. This nutritionally superior diet means Eggland’s Best hens lay naturally superior eggs.

So from our unique hen feed and strict quality standards, to our network of USDA-inspected local farms all over the United States, you can be confident that a classic, organic, or cage-free egg with the EB stamp on the shell is a nutritionally superior egg that delivers farm-fresh taste. That’s why Eggland’s Best are the country’s #1 egg.

The Best In Quality

All Eggland’s Best eggs are subjected to the most rigorous quality assurance testing in the industry. Every aspect of the production and distribution is constantly monitored and managed. Our state-of-the-art laboratory conducts more than 75,000 tests each year.

The Best in Taste

Why do we consider taste an ingredient in our eggs? Because of the superior quality of our hen feed. Eggland’s Best eggs come from hens that are fed our unique, wholesome, all-vegetarian diet that never contains animal by-products or recycled food.

Results of an independent retail egg quality survey showed that through a 45-day storage period, Eggland’s Best Eggs earned a superior Grade AA in comparison to Grade A for ordinary eggs. This means that Eggland’s Best Eggs maintained the quality attributes characteristic of a fresh egg longer than regular eggs. Simply stated, Eggland’s Best Eggs stay fresher longer.

The Eggland’s Best limited survey confirms the quality observed during the USDA National Retail Egg Quality Survey. At the Farm: Hen Feed Testing

To ensure that all Eggland’s Best hens receive the same high-quality feed, all Eggland’s Best producers submit samples each month of their Eggland’s Best hen feed to be evaluated in our laboratory for consistency, quality, and nutritional value.

At the Store: Product Testing

We retain an independent auditing firm to randomly visit supermarkets around the country to evaluate the quality of Eggland’s Best Eggs. Eggs are collected from retail shelves and sent to an outside laboratory for evaluation. This testing is continuous throughout the year, with 3 independent laboratories confirming the results.
